It's not about who we are, it's about the music
Our History
A Little Anonymous Music Co. started as Anonymous Productions in 1990.
The company name grew out of a joke. On seven consecutive projects, Keith Hays was added to the production team so late that his name was omitted from the credits. In each case, he was hired to fix a wide range of problems from miking for a production by the Arkansas Opera Theater, to producing the audio for a television broadcast by Henderson State University Music Department, to performing on and mixing a band's first album.
The jobs Keith took made people sound good, but he wasn't concerned about getting credit for it...so he began to look at himself as "anonymous"....
The first official project with the name, Anonymous Productions, was recording an album by Jackopierce for Rhythmic Records. In 1990, Someday You'll Understand marked a beginning for Anonymous Productions working with singer-songwriters and other indie musicians to help them get their careers started.
While working with Jackopierce, Keith commented that if he did his job right, people wouldn't hear him...they'd just hear the band. A philosophy that had been the driving force behind all of Keith's work as a producer, engineer, or composer for theater and television took over. For the next twelve years, we built up a discography that we are very proud of. From working with indie artists, doing sound design for theater companies, composing scores for television, film and theater, to recording educational projects, and more. His award from the Kennedy Center for Sound Design and the educational projects produced and engineered for Warner Bros. were particular points of pride.
Keith often told clients, "I do my job right, no one will know I was there." He wanted indie artists' work to be heard. He wanted audiences to focus on the story unfolding on stage or the screen. And more than anything, he wanted students to see the material they needed clearly and concisely. So, that became the company motto and it shaped all the work done by Anonymous Productions. In 2002, we shifted our focus to music publishing and a little change was required. When we became a BMI affiliated music publishing company, we couldn’t use the name Anonymous Music. The BMI rep said if we added “a little something to the name” to join BMI. We took his comment literally and A Little Anonymous Music Co. was born.
Now, A Little Anonymous Music Co. has become part of Anonymous Publishing. We’ve branched out to assisting indie authors publish their books, building websites for artists and writers, and more. While Anonymous Publishing and our work continues to grow, A Little Anonymous Music Co. is still going strong, even if we never get famous doing it.
Because it's not about who we are...it's about the music we make.
